The Richest Female Billionaires in the World

By   February 26, 2015

Most people can name the world’s richest men straight off the top of our heads (Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, you know where we’re going with this), but how many female billionaires do you know about?  Taking you a little longer to realize that you don’t know any, right?  Just because you don’t know who they are, doesn’t mean they don’t exist because – trust me – they do!  To make things easier for you, here are some of the richest females in the world:

Chan Laiwa – $7.3 billion

chan laiwa

Being one of only 19 women who are self-made billionaires, Laiwa has more than earned her space on this list.  Although she was a descendent from the noble Manchu family, at the time of her burth the imperial family had collapsed and they were poor.  Rising from poverty in China, she dropped out of school to support herself by repairing furniture.  She built this business up only until she had enough money to invest in some real estate.  Using her earnings, she bought as many as 12 villas and then founded the Fuwah International Group back in the 90s which focused mostly in real estate.  She also diversified her portfolio with agriculture, electronics, tourism, and red sandalwood art production.  After founding the China Red Sandalwood Museum in she invested a mind-blowing 20 billion Yuan in, she is also known for her philanthropy.

Charlene de Carvalho Heineken – $11.4 billion

We’re sure you’ve already guessed where her wealth comes from – beer, of course.  She is currently the richest person in the Netherlands thanks to her stake in Heineken beer.  The company has been inherited from her father more than a decade ago.  She chooses to stay out of the limelight and even though she is one of Europe’s wealthiest women, she is also one of the least known billionaires.  It doesn’t seem like she has a problem with this though, and we don’t blame her!

Abigail Johnson – $13.6 billion

Abigail Johnson

It was her grandfather who started Fidelity, which is one of the largest mutual fund companies in America.  Starting to work here even before she started college, Johnson took orders from customers on the phone.  Once she had received her MBA from Harvard in 1988, she started her job as an analyst and the rest is, well, history.  It wasn’t long before she landed to role of president in 2012, while her father remained the CEO.  If things go as expected, she will probably be taking over that role from her father in the future.  She’s more than deserving of it though, wouldn’t you say?

Christy Walton – $42.1 billion

Being the richest woman in the world is not the only thing that this billionaire has under her belt.  Married into the infamous family who created Wal-Mart, Walton inherited her wealth from her husband who died in a plane crash in 2005.  There’s no sign that she will be handing over this title anytime soon, as she received $470 million in dividends from Wal-Mart last year.  And is case you were wondering – yes, that was after taxes.

We’re sure that this had made you want to start something of your own soon in the hopes that you could one day be as successful as these billionaires.  When you play the lotto online, you could be walking away with more than enough to start your own company without any stress of sticking with a budget.   There’s no telling how many times you could hit the big time with the online lottery, with all of the best games taking place each week.  Don’t forget to place your entries after making your lucky number selections, which is where your lottery horoscope can help you out.  With $127 million up for grabs in the next Mega Millions draw, you might want to give it a try.  Best of luck!
