Two lucky Lotto players in Hastings and West Auckland have had some excitement added to their All Black test.
The two winners had to split the $25 million Powerball jackpot, and on top of that, they each grabbed $250,000 for taking out Lotto first division too.
Hastings Pak n Save sold one of the tickets while Kumeu Four Square sold the other.
One Aucklander claimed a $26.2 million Powerball prize in February and last night’s jackpot ranked seventh on the all-time list, according to Amanda Boock – Lotto spokeswoman.
The biggest jackpot ever won was $33 million, this was won by another Aucklander when the game reached its must-be-won jackpot.
One Step Ahead in Ponsonby sold the ticket which broke the record and the winner did not even pick all six numbers and the Powerball, as is normally the case.
The prize pool dropped to second division in which there was only one who got five numbers, the bonus ball and Powerball.
The winner of this weekend’s lotto will not share quite as much as Te Kauwhata’s Trevor Cooper who claimed $26.5 million playing Powerball.
But $12.75 million should be enough to buy a range of high-powered vehicles and race them in the US if they wanted to, just like Trev.
